Writers' Block Week 2


GIVING YOUNG WRITERS A FUN FOUNDATION

Join The Writers Place for our two-week camp especially for young writers, ages 12 to 18 years old. Writers’ Blocks will be held July 11-15 and 18-22, 9am to 12pm, at 3607 Pennsylvania, KCMO 64111. Week 2 focuses on poetry.  Each week campers will focus on a different genre of creative writing, and at the end of camp we’ll celebrate with a reading for family and friends.

Week 2: Poetry with Melissa Fite Johnson

Melissa Fite Johnson received her Master’s in English literature from Pittsburg State University in Kansas.  Her poems have appeared in Rattle, Broadsided Press, Valparaiso Poetry Review, and elsewhere.  Her first book of poetry, While the Kettle’s On (Little Balkans Review, 2015), won the Nelson Poetry Book Award and is a Kansas Notable Book.  Melissa and her husband live with their dog and chickens in Pittsburg, where she teaches English.  For more, visit melissafitejohnson.com
