Reading in the Roses

In partnership with The Kansas City Rose Society, The Writers Place invites you to enjoy literary readings in the Rose Garden. On Saturday, September 23rd from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, three poets and a blogger will read for this free and most pleasant event. Readings take place in the North Pavilion of the Loose Park Rose Garden, or, in case of inclement weather, the Garden Center's Sarajane S. Aber Rose Room.

CELEBRATION OF DÍA DE MUERTOS

Join us for our annual celebration of Day of the Dead on Nov 3 at 7:00.  Readers this year will be Maria De Los Angelas Diaz and Sofiana Olivera Abalan.  Xanath Caraza and World’s Window will provide altars, Allen Arias’ band, Hide in the Shadows will provide music, and the Calpulli Iskal Dancers will perform traditional Mexica dance.

Join The Writers Place for our two-week camp especially for young writers, ages 12 to 18 years old. Writers’ Blocks will be held July 11-15 and 18-22, 9am to 12pm, at 3607 Pennsylvania, KCMO 64111. Each week campers will focus on a different genre of creative writing, and at the end of camp we’ll celebrate with a reading for family and friends.
